In its first phase of the Green Hydrogen for Mobility, Oman Shell signed an agreement with Oman Airports Management Company in 2022 to give 15 hydrogen cars to Oman Airports and to build a hydrogen station near the airport.
During Oman Sustainability Week, Oman Shell and Oman Airports Management Company announced land allocation for Shell’s Green Hydrogen for Mobility project. The land assigned for this project is owned by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and is located near Muscat International Airport.
The Green Hydrogen for Mobility Project in partnership with Oman Shell is an important investment to the existing infrastructure, which will reduce carbon emissions and provide a more sustainable environment for the residents around Muscat Airport.
Construction will commence as soon as the necessary permits are secured, with the station expected to be on stream in 2024. Commenting on this milestone, Walid Hadi said: “This station will be the first station in Shell globally to have the hydrogen production unit on site, which will help achieve the maximum energy efficiency.
